Open Studio Weekend and Archive Sale!
I’m delighted to be opening my studio to visitors again on the weekend of September 19th and 20th. I’ll have my latest collection of works on show, alongside my 2027 cards, calendar and an archive sale of prints and originals. On another note, it’s been a hot, dry summer this year and the studio has baked itself in greenhouse temperatures, making painting an endurance test – I know many other artists have felt the same. Oppressive and prolonged heat can have a soporific effect and dull the creative senses, so I’ve enjoyed escaping outdoors with my sketchbook and filming my new online course ‘From Sketchbook to Canvas’, due for release this Autumn. I’ll be looking at translating sketches into finished oil paintings without losing spontaneity and freedom, so it’s been fun revisiting some of my techniques and gathering ideas for how to demonstrate this concept.
