Spring 2023

April 4, 2023

It seems to have been a crushingly long Winter for some reason - all the dark nights, chilly days and endlessly grey light that permeate the psyche with a sense of flatness have run concurrently for far too long. Not that I haven’t found stimulation in this heavy season, which traditionally brings out my love of snow, dramatic skies and icy hoar frosts to provide a well of landscape inspiration. Experimenting with watercolour and gouache led to 2 new larger works on paper being accepted by the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours for their annual exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London. This is a large, inclusive show that reflects the remarkable versatility of the medium and I was delighted to have been a part of it.

However, to Spring and the chinks of sunshine and swathes of daffodils that really help lift the spirits. I’m working on a new collection of landscapes to launch in early Summer, so watch this space and do sign up to my mailing list for updates. I don’t have any major exhibitions scheduled until 2024, so my studio is currently also acting as a gallery which I can clean up at a moment’s notice to show work to buyers…do get in touch if you’d like to make an appointment to view available pieces. Later in the year I hope to hold an Open Studio event so hopefully there will be an opportunity to see all my paintings, sketchbooks and prints under one roof before the year is out. In the meantime, here’s wishing you a wonderful Easter break and plenty of sunshine in the coming months!
